In a global initiative to promote retail, restore consumer confidence, and celebrate fashion, U.S. and international editions of Vogue are coordinating evening extravaganzas in their respective world fashion capitals. The city of Boston has joined this global fashion celebration and Mayor Thomas M. Menino has officially made September 10, 2009 Fashion's Night Out Day in the city of Boston.

Every fashion retailer across the city of Boston - flagships, tiny boutiques, massive department stores, young designers, mainstream chains, and niche luxury names alike - has been encouraged to keep its doors open until 11pm on the evening of September 10th, and to implement creative customer experiences welcoming all. Additionally, local legislative officials are encouraged to interact with consumers, shop owners, and to demonstrate their support for Boston's fashion economy.
